We are very busy now with some very cool and challenging commercial projects. At the new Martha Jefferson Hospital we are installing stone on poured in place concrete amphitheater seat walls which will be capped with bluestone.

Over at UVA we are installing one of the most challenging Redi Rock retaining walls that we have ever done. The site is very small and we are dealing with some unsuitable soil. As a result of the unsuitable soil we have had to excavate our footings to a depth of fifty inches instead of  the thirty inches that the engineered plan called for. This project illustrates the need of having larger walls properly engineered and for testing soil compaction as construction is under way.

After taking the actions necessary to remedy the soil compaction issues we are now beginning construction of the wall in earnest and began installing the first course of wall yesterday.
